Guide: How to join NewSpawn
IMPORTANT: prior to reading the following page, make sure you've read and agreed to follow the NewSpawn Rules. Failure to comply with these rules can result in a permanent and irrevocable ban from our community. We don't allow ignorance of the rules as an excuse.
This Guide details the process on how to join the NewSpawn server. As you've already1) seen, you need to check out the server rules first. I know, it sounds pretty repetitive, and frankly I'm not the biggest fan of reading long lists of bullet points myself. But please do this one thing and you'll have much less trouble later on. I can't stress enough that it's really, really worth it!
Java Edition
Done reading the rules? Great! It's now time to actually join the server. Provided you're running the latest Minecraft release and have a license for Minecraft: Java Edition, you can simply connect to the server at newspawn.net
.
In case you've never joined a server, here's how it's done:
- Open your Minecraft Launcher (download it from here in case you don't have it installed) and sign in with the credentials of your relevant Mojang, Microsoft or Legacy (Minecraft) account
- Click on the “PLAY” button to launch the game
- Once Minecraft has started, click on “Multiplayer”, then “Add Server”
- Enter the following:
- In Server Name:
NewSpawn
2) - In Server Address:
newspawn.net
- You can leave other options untouched; click on “Done”
- Double-click on NewSpawn in the server list
Have fun!
Bedrock Edition
Please note: this functionality is currently in Beta. Additionally, you need a copy of Minecraft: Java Edition in order to gain access to Bedrock. Your profile will be shared between Minecraft: Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. Think of this as an extension to the default, desktop NewSpawn experience. Due to safety/technical viability reasons, we're unable to support Bedrock-only players at the moment.
You need to be already up-and-running on Java Edition to unlock Bedrock compatibility. If you've never joined from Minecraft: Java Edition, be sure to follow the paragraph above then come back here. If you haven't played on a GeyserMC-powered server before, you'll have to link your Minecraft: Java Edition account to your Xbox account. This is regardless of your Minecraft Java account type (original/Minecraft, migrated/Mojang or new/Microsoft). Thankfully, the process only takes a couple of minutes; steps are outlined in this guide, courtesy of the GeyserMC team. You'll be asked to log into the same temporary server from both Bedrock Edition and Java Edition, run a command from the Java side and use the instructions and code you are provided with on Bedrock.
Once that is out of the way, to join from a mobile device or any other Bedrock platform:
- Ensure you're logged into your Xbox/Microsoft account on Bedrock
- Manually add a server in the Servers menu
- Enter the following:
- In Server Name:
NewSpawn
- In Address:
beta.newspawn.net
- In Port:
25000
— this is important! The default 19132 won't work.
Enjoy!
Joining from consoles
You can easily join from Windows 10, Android, iOS, FireOS and Oculus, though you'll need to use a workaround in order to join from consoles: you must use your smartphone as a sort of “proxy” to fool the device into thinking NewSpawn is a local game session. For example, you may use one of these apps:
- iOS: BedrockTogether
- Android: MC Server Connector
Please be aware that, while these apps should be safe to use, they are third-party pieces of software which we neither endorse nor we take responsibility for, should anything happen to you, your data, hardware, software or accounts. Only install applications from trusted sources.
